Once upon a time, children in our society were jointly raised by their parents and other members of their extended families not forgetting neighbours and teachers and such communal interventions to a large extent ensured that there was discipline not only in families but in the society at large as children behaved themselves knowing that many eyes were on them and if for any reason they misbehaved, they could be severely punished or reported to their parents.
In my opinion, today's parents are largely to be blamed for the high level of indiscipline among the youths, I remember how we were openly caned by our teachers In the presence of our classmates simply because we were reported by our parents, as a matter of fact, those of us whose houses were beside the road to the school did everything possible to stay away from trouble so that our parents do not report us to our teachers who could be passing by at any moment but today, parents will storm their children schools and beat up their teachers for daring to punish them for bad behaviours.
Over the years, poor parenting has led us to where we are now, where parents who ought to be worthy examples of discipline and good behaviours now shamelessly beats up teachers for correcting their wards, we now find ourselves in a pitiable condition where class teachers are threatened, blackmailed or bribed by some irresponsible parents who wants their children to pass their examinations at all cost and the resultant effect now lives with us, Cultism,Prostitution,Armed Robbery, Hard Drugs Consumption not forgetting Rape and many other anti-social behaviours. How did we get here? To be continued.....

Many times, we are quick to lambast the badly behaved young people in our society without first asking the following important questions such as: (1). Who are their parents? (2). What was thier upbringing like? These questions and their possible answers will serve as a guide into the reasons why there are so much anti-social vices in our country. The greatest evil that any parent can commit against the society is to give birth to children who will end up as sources of sorrow, tears and blood to the society, a situation where some parents consumes hard drugs in whatever form before their wards is nothing but an outright encouragement to them that it's okay to do drugs. ....TO BE CONTINUED........
