THE CONSEQUENCES OF PARENTAL FAILURE (PART 2)

   Back in the days, children were jointly raised by parents and other noble characters in the society such as extended family members, teachers, community and religious leaders, these group of well meaning persons disciplined badly behaved children in their communities even without any formal authorisation by their parents, as a matter of fact, upon their return from farms, work or market, parents whose child was disciplined by any of the earlier mentioned characters goes from house to house thanking them for the good job but all that has changed as we now find ourselves in a world where parents either by themselves or through their hired thugs storms their children schools to beat up their teachers for daring discipline them.
        I'm convinced that perhaps one of the reasons why parents back in the days did not suffer much illnesses such as high blood pressure and depression like we have them today was because they allowed the community to be part of their children's upbringing, they never threatened to arrest or beat up any one that disciplined their children and many of them enjoyed not only good health but long life as well, how I wish that the good old days of communal parenting will return back, that era when I was subjected to serious interrogation by an elder in the community on my way to visit a friend and when I could not provide a tangible reason for my visit, I was asked to return back to my house.

When I hear stories of Pastors who are always in the habit of running from pillar to post on accounts that their lives are under attack by witches and wizards, I laugh and at the same time weep for the church of God, is it not shameful that ministers of God who ought to be terrors to the kingdom of darkness are now the ones running from them? Did you know that some so called ministers of God in a bid to avoid being killed by their perceived enemies now seeks for protection charms from Juju-men leaving some like us wondering if our God is no more in existence? According to the scriptures, children are gifts or blessings from God but truth be told, the alarming rate of antisocial behaviours by the young people in our today's world leaves one wondering if parents truly appreciates or cherish such blessings. Parenting is a very serious business that requires the total commitment of parents and in all honesty any parent who is not ready to give his or her all has no business bringing any child into the world as such children may end up as terrors to the entire society.
