This was the cry of a pretty and well dressed woman who was severely beaten up by a mob for stealing a five hundred naira worth of fried fish, the ugly incident which took place in a popular street in Ikeja Lagos Nigeria left many dumbfounded as they wondered what on earth would push such a spotless fair complexioned woman to descend so low to steal from a haggard looking fried fish vendor.
Chatting with an eyewitness whose local gin spot is directly facing the fried fish vendor, it was gathered that the well dressed woman before the incident was overheard asking someone via the telephone to send her the address of a party venue but shortly after that the eyewitness disclosed that trouble started when the fish vendor who was attending to many other customers was alerted by her son that the well dressed woman had swiftly stolen a fish and threw it inside her bag.
It was said by the eyewitness that as soon as the little boy raised the alarm, his mom without wasting time ran after the woman and held her as she attempted to board a tricycle, in the words of the eyewitness, "When the fish vendor first accused the woman of stealing, many of us did not believe her considering the way she was beautifully dressed but she insisted that she open her handbag for confirmation, behold, the hot fried fish dripping oil".
The eyewitness who was full of sympathy for the fish thief revealed that after she was mercilessly beaten up by the mob, the woman who was later rescued by some good samaritans opened up on her predicament, in her words, " I did not know what came over me, I was actually on my way to a party but I just heard a voice urging me to go steal the fried fish which I did not need after all".
